OUR STORY

Lone Oak Baptist Church has been a beacon of faith in the Energy community since 1898, when we were first established as a Freewill Baptist Church. Over the decades, our denominational affiliations have evolved—we joined the American Baptist Convention in the mid-1900s, then became an independent, non-profit incorporated Baptist church around 2000, a standing we proudly maintain today.

A Legacy of Building

Our physical spaces have grown alongside our congregation:

1917: Our first church building was constructed, establishing a permanent home for worship in Energy.

1928: A new, larger sanctuary was built to accommodate our growing church family.

2001–2006: We embarked on our most ambitious building project—a three-phase construction that transformed our facilities:

  • Phase One (2001): A combined sanctuary and fellowship hall

  • Phase Two (2004): Additional Sunday school rooms to support our expanding educational ministries

  • Phase Three (2005–2006): A dedicated worship sanctuary

2023: Responding to our thriving Awana program, we added a full-size basketball/pickleball court and sand volleyball court—recreational spaces designed to serve our youth and community.

Our Heart for the Next Generation

From our earliest days to today, the youth of Lone Oak Baptist Church have been central to our mission. We recognize that children and teenagers aren't just the future of our church—they're an essential part of who we are right now. Our commitment to investing in the next generation shapes everything we do, from Sunday programming to facility planning. When you visit Lone Oak, you'll find a church that takes seriously both the spiritual formation and the joy of young people.
