The kids learned a lot about salt in Children’s Church Sunday and how important it was back in Jesus’ day! Did you know the word “salary” comes from an ancient word meaning “salt money” referring to Roman solders’ allowance for the purchase of salt. Someone who earns his pay is still said to be “worth his salt”. (gotquestions.org)

How would you like to get paid in salt instead of cash?

They also learned that there were legally binding contracts by “covenants of salt”. Grain offerings were to be seasoned with salt and much more.

But Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:13 says, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot”.

They learned how salt can lose its saltiness.

Colossians 4:6 says:

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Being gracious is someone who is pleasantly kind, courteous and generous in spirit. Like adding a little salt to popcorn.

And if we’re not being gracious…this is how salt can lose its saltiness.

So they learned that a little salt can go a long way! And look what it can do!

Isn’t that amazing?! Jesus said we are the salt of the earth!

So let’s remember to be gracious and remember to season our words!

LAST SUNDAY NIGHT THOSE THAT WENT TO BIG CREEK SHARED THEIR TESTIMONIES

If you were not at church Sunday night to hear all of the testimonies from all of those who went to Big Creek, you really missed out. Here is Jen’s testimony. She said when she put this name tag on (below), she felt like she had power. But, as Christians, we have an invisible name tag written on our hearts, empowering us to do as Christ has commanded…to share the Gospel. (Matthew 28:19)

What does your name tag say? Who is your employer? Who are you representing? Who are you serving?

Matthew 12:30 says, “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad”.

Matthew 6:24 says, “No man can serve two masters…”

So, who are you serving and what does your name tag say, church?

This is a question I think we should ask ourselves often.

A lot to think about! Thank you Jen for sharing!

Here are a few pictures from the FATHER’S DAY FELLOWSHIP yesterday at Arrowhead Lake in Johnston City. Looks like everyone had a great time!

A few pictures from Carpenters for Christ which was in Equality, IL this year. Those from Lone Oak that went were Dick Smith, Dick Smith’s grandson, Mark Smith, Pastor Corey and Seth Nation. Kenny Penrod and his brother stopped by for a visit. A BIG THANK YOU MEN FOR SERVING!
